Multiple Criteria Analysis is a great way to evaluate vendors who have responded to an RFP.  One such analysis was done when six vendors responded to a very complicated and highly visible RFP.  The alternatives file consisted of the six vendors and the criteria file contained RFP selection criteria.  A great deal of time was spent reviewing responses from vendors and discussing them in detail.  Then several Multiple Criteria Analysis steps were run using the same two input files (vendors and selection criteria), each time looking at the vendor from a different aspect (e.g., vendor image, vendor longevity).  In the end a report detailed results from each step and a final recommendation was made.

This same type of application can be used with product selection.
